Terms of Use
Draft, pending legal review. This page describes how Localee works today and will be finalized before the app launches.
These terms are an agreement between you and Localee. By creating an account or using the app or website, you agree to them. If you use Localee for a business, you agree on behalf of that business.
1. What Localee is
Localee lets local businesses post time-limited deals, and lets people nearby find, claim and redeem them in person. Deals are offered by the businesses, not by Localee. Your purchase is between you and the business.
2. Accounts
- You must be at least 18 to create an account. Deals on alcohol are only for people of legal drinking age, and businesses will check ID.
- Keep your login private. You're responsible for activity on your account, and a business owner is responsible for the staff accounts they create.
- Give accurate information, including a real business name and address.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time.
3. For customers
- Claiming: a claimed deal gives you a code that's valid for 30 minutes. Show it at the business before it expires. Deals have limited quantities and end times.
- Free plan: 3 redemptions and 1 freeze token per month. A freeze keeps a claim open until the deal ends.
- Unlimited plan: $9.99 per month for unlimited redemptions. It renews monthly until you cancel, and cancelling stops the next renewal.
- A deal is the business's offer. Its terms, availability and quality are the business's responsibility. If something goes wrong, tell the business and let us know.
- One person, one account. Don't share, sell or copy codes.
4. For businesses
- Plans: Starter ($99/month, 3 deal posts), Growth ($199/month, 10 deal posts) and Unlimited ($299/month). Plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe and renew until cancelled.
- Founding offer: founding businesses in a launch town get their first month free when announced for that town.
- Changes and cancellation: you can change or cancel your plan. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid month; we don't refund partial months unless the law requires it.
- Honor your deals: you agree to honor every valid, unexpired code during the posted window, at the posted terms.
- Follow the law: you're responsible for your deals complying with the law, including Washington liquor rules for alcohol promotions, consumer protection rules, and any taxes on the sale.
- Your content: you keep ownership of your name, logo, photos and deal text, and give Localee permission to display them in the app, on our website and in promotion of Localee.
- Customer information: use what you see about customers only to serve them through Localee, and protect it.
5. Things you can't do
- Post false, misleading or illegal deals, or deals for things Apple or Google don't allow.
- Abuse codes, create fake accounts, or game referral rewards.
- Try to break into, overload, scrape or copy the service.
- Harass anyone or use Localee to send spam.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
6. Payments
Prices are in U.S. dollars and may include tax where required. If a payment fails, we'll retry it and may pause paid features until it's resolved. We'll give you notice before a price change applies to you.
7. Localee's content
The app, website, name and logo belong to Localee. You may use them only to use the service as intended.
8. Disclaimers
Localee is provided "as is." We work to keep it running and accurate, but we don't guarantee that it will always be available, that a particular deal will be available, or that a business will deliver what it offered.
9. Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, Localee isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid Localee in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 if you paid nothing.
10. Ending these terms
You can stop using Localee and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, or end the service with reasonable notice.
11. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington. Before filing any claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve it informally.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is meaningful, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
